Class Description
Megan Chiango
Have you ever seen works by collage artists, such as Patrick Bremer, and wondered how they transformed everyday materials into beautiful art? If so, this course will help you see the ordinary materials around us, such as magazine clippings and fabrics, as a possible art medium. This class is appropriate for both beginners and more experienced artists interested in expanding on their range with the materials they work with. The exercises are fun, supportive, and open to all skill levels.
- We will start with conventional tone studies using charcoal, and then progress to working with paper collage and integrating color into the work.
- Students will leave the class with 3-5 collage studies, and a new perspective on what “art materials” can be.
- Class materials will be provided, but toward the end of the session, students will be encouraged to bring in various items from their own recycling stashes to work with.
