Japanese Bookbinding

Class Description

Karen Dardinski

Known for her experimental and innovative approach to art, Karen will lead this class in bookmaking. A beautiful hand bound book will result where students will use a combination of recycled materials, vintage wallpapers along with handmade Japanese and Italian papers. Closure will be the Japanese side bound technique. These books can be used as sketchbooks, photo albums, journals or guest books, etc. High quality materials and attention to detail assure that these books would also be a lovely gift.

One, 2-hour class: Wednesday, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
October 11, 2023. Nock Middle School.
Cost $75. All materials will be provided for a $20 material fee payable to the teacher on the first night of class. Class limit: 10

  • Anyone from the Greater Newburyport community is welcome to participate as a student or to become a teacher!
  • Most classes are also available to teens 15 years and over.
  2. In order to receive a refund, students must withdraw at least three (3) days prior to class start date. Student withdrawals beyond three days, (4+) will not receive a refund.
  • If, for any reason, the Newburyport schools are closed or cancelled (ie. inclement weather)… Adult Ed classes will also be cancelled.
  • Check the Website, Facebook, Instagram, or call (978) 992-8060 for class cancellation updates.
  • In the case of a class cancellation, you may choose a credit voucher which can be used for any class at any time, or a refund.
  1. We do not send registration confirmations.
  2. We only contact you if your class is cancelled or full.
  3. We do not deposit checks immediately. We hold them until we are certain a class will run.
