Newburyport Adult & Community Education desperately needs your help!
COVID, dramatically affected our enrollments over the past months and, subsequently, our bottom line.
Yes, we’ve made cuts, eliminated positions, downsized the catalog, kept older equipment rather than invest in new. And we’ve done be everything we can think of to cut costs.
And, yes, we have a few institutions and foundations to thank. The Institution for Savings, the Newburyport Bank, and the Civic League. In pre-COVID days, their funding support was enough to keep us solvent.
That is no longer the case.
Keep in mind, we are not funded by the city. I have to raise EVERY DIME to keep the program afloat. That includes my salary as well as the webmaster’s and faculty salaries, and the cost of the catalog which, by every account from all the other program leaders in the state, is an essential marketing tool.
Other programs make a great percentage of their revenue from children’s afterschool and summer programs. In Newburyport, that is part of Youth Services, a program funded by the city, and not available to us.
Thus, I’m asking you to contribute whatever you can. If you have participated in our program and enjoyed it, believe that the quality of life in Newburyport is enhanced by the educational opportunities Newburyport Adult & Community Education offers, please help. Your donation qualifies as a tax-deductible gift.

Thank you for your support over the past 20 years. My goal is to leave the program solvent when I retire so that the community will continue to enjoy a tangible commitment to lifelong learning for decades to come.
