Overwhelmed by the coffee aisle? With so many brands, roasts, and price points, choosing the right coffee can be confusing. This class will help you become a smarter coffee shopper by explaining how coffee is grown, roasted, packaged, marketed, and sold in today’s supermarkets. You’ll learn how your personal taste, coffee brands, pricing, and grocery store marketing all influence your buying decisions. By the end of this workshop, you’ll know how to confidently select the best coffee for your taste and budget—saving money while enjoying a better cup every morning.

HOW TO BUY SUPERMARKET COFFEE

Greater Newburyport Adult & Community Education (GNACE) is a completely self-sustaining program that is funded primarily from class fees, grants, and private donations. While we operate under the auspices of the Newburyport Public School System, GNACE receives no public funding from the City of Newburyport or school system. Show your support for lifelong learning by making a tax-deductible donation to ensure that we can continue to offer valuable educational programs that our community has come to rely on.

  • Those are just a few of the nearly 200 exciting classes offered by GNACE each year.
  • Browse our catalog and try something new!
  • Anyone in the Greater Newburyport community and beyond is welcome to take classes or be an instructor.
  • Most classes are available to teens 15 years and older.

  1. If a class is cancelled by GNACE, a refund or credit voucher will be given.
  2. Refunds or vouchers are not given on the day class begins, after a class begins, if you’ve taken at least one of the classes, or are a no-show.
  3. Class fees are not prorated for any missed sessions during the scheduled class term. If you are unable to attend one or more classes, no partial refunds, credits, or adjustments will be provided.
  4. In order to receive a refund or class voucher, students must give a minimum of four (4) days notice prior to class start date if they need to withdraw.
  5. Vouchers may be used anytime for any class and have no expiration date.
  6. COOKING CLASSES: Withdrawals must be made at least seven days (7) prior to class start date to receive a credit voucher. There are no refunds for cooking classes. However, registrants may transfer their registration to another person to fill the spot, if possible.
      

Thank you for your understanding. We are a fully self-sustaining organization and receive no funding from the school system or city of Newburyport. We rely on class tuitions, donations, grants and sponsorships in our catalogue that enable us to offer this educational program to our community.

We hope you’ll continue to engage in our lifelong learning programs for years to come. There is something for everyone!

  • If, for any reason, the Newburyport schools are closed or cancelled (ie. inclement weather)… GNACE classes will also be cancelled.
  • Check the Website, Facebook, Instagram, or call (978) 992-8060 for class cancellation updates.
  • If a class is canceled, a make-up day will be coordinated with the instructor and students.
  • We do not send registration confirmations. We only contact you if your class is cancelled or full.

  2. To participate you need only basic computer skills and a strong internet connection.
  3. You will need to download Zoom onto your computer HERE. And to test your system, Zoom offers a test site HERE.
