Challah Baking Workshop

Class Description

Rabbi Alex Matthews

Learn how to bake delicious Challah, the traditional Jewish bread eaten on Shabbat and holidays. In this hands-on workshop, Rabbi Alex Matthews will walk participants through every step of the process, including shopping for the right ingredients, making the dough, shaping and braiding the loaves, and baking. No experience is necessary. Participants will leave with a freshly baked loaf as well as a full batch of dough to bake at home. Rabbi Alex Matthews has served as the Rabbi of Congregation Ahavas Achim, Newburyport since 2019. He learned how to bake challah from his mother at a very early age and has made challah baking an integral part of his rabbinic career.
