Ethan Lima
Popular instructor Ethan Lima offers this beginning drawing class designed to develop and expand your observational abilities and rendering skills. Students will learn methods for sensitively describing objects in terms of line, shape, volume, cross-contour, proportion, light logic, perspective, and compositional space. Each class focuses on a particular formal concept and its function in drawing. Students begin with line drawings and conclude with fully modeled, tonal, volumetric, still-life drawings. Also covered are fundamentals of pictorial space structure, aesthetics, content, and draftsmanship using still life and natural forms. Includes work with pencil, pen, and charcoal.
Students should bring the following supplies:
- Drawing pad (11 ยฝ โ x 14โ or larger) suitable for `both charcoal and pastel;
a newsprint sketch pad (11.5โ x 14โ); and small sketchbook. Assortment
of drawing pencils; charcoal (soft and medium); gum and kneaded
erasers. Paper or plastic basic folder/ portfolio to hold drawings.
Other recommended supplies:
- blending sticks; ruler, paintersโ tape.
Helpful, but optional: a portable easel, drawing board (18โ x 24โ).
