Class Description
Donna Walsh Inglehart
Recounting our travels, we tend to rely on itineraries and photograph albums. Perhaps we’ve recorded day-to-day events without actually describing what has resonated most with us. In this workshop, “travel” can be defined as any journey that takes us beyond our own doorsteps. Participants will consider what makes a journal meaningful, how to capture the ephemeral, and moving beyond the “what-when-wheres.” In-class exercises will draw us more deeply into past journeys, enriching our memories and insights into those experiences. Over six weeks, we will create several short narrative-descriptive essays with depth, context, and intention. Students will be invited to share their work, discussion focusing on what especially resonates with the class. This course is appropriate for all levels of writers.
Donna Walsh Inglehart has published works of fiction and non-fiction, including her Civil War novel, Grindstone, and One in a Thousand, co-authored with Ian Coristine, Formula One race car driver and aerial photographer. A life-long teacher of writing, Donna continues to be inspired by working with writers of all ages. donnawalshinglehart.com
