Class Description
Andrea Cleghorn
Memoir can take many forms, but what differentiates it from autobiography is its focus on a specific period or theme. This style can be both liberating and challenging for the writer. This workshop encourages participants to move forward with the help and example of fellow writers. Andrea will offer topic guidelines and advice on how to develop scenes, create dialogue, and to just keep going! Class members will read their own writing each week, whether from the memoir in progress or a weekly prompt.
Andrea Cleghorn is a journalist, nonfiction author, and writing coach. Her memoir is The Whipple Brunch. Her most recent book (2023), Dog Tales: An Unleashed Collection of True Stories, is an anthology of 33 essays, many of which were written by students of this class. andreacleghorn.com
