Alcohol Ink Painting: An Introduction

Class Description

Liz Filipancic

Suitable for artists of any level, this class will introduce you to using alcohol ink on Yupo paper, a plastic non-porous paper. Students will learn techniques that incorporate rubbing alcohol, straws, spray bottles, and paint brushes to create some frameable pieces of happy art. Alcohol inks are super bright, fluid, and highly interactive. The colors have unique properties when interacting with each other, allowing for exciting and unexpected results! Perfect for creatives who want to have fun and let the inks do much of the work! Local artist Liz Filipancic began painting with watercolor nearly 20 years ago. Passionate about color and vibrancy, she found that alcohol inks offered the exciting colors and interesting reactions she craved in her art. (Note: if you are very sensitive to smells, this class is not for you. Masks are suggested.)

Students should bring the following supplies: Ranger Brand Tim Holtz Alcohol Inks Spectrum 8-pack OR any 3-pack of Ranger colors you prefer, and a 5โ€ x 7โ€ Legion brand Yupo paper 20-sheet pad. Items available from Amazon, Michaelโ€™s, and JoAnn craft stores. Cost of supplies is approximately $30.

NOTE: There are two options from which to choose for your desired class dates. Be sure to select the correct one when registering. This is NOT a two-part series.
