Jana Harris

This is a guided mushroom walk for all those interested in discovering the various fungi. You will have a chance to learn what is needed to properly ID mushrooms and how fungi reproduce. Ghost Trail features ferns, pink lady slippers, hardwood trees and deep woods. The leader of this guided walking tour will be Jana Harris of Essex Forays, certified in Wild Mushroom Food Safety and member of Boston Mycological Club. Participants will get up close and personal with mushroom species that thrive during the period of spring months in New England.

  • Depending upon the weather, there will be different types of mushrooms to explore.
  • Please wear sturdy shoes, bring a water bottle, tick and bug repellent, ID field guide and basket (optional).
  • Must be in good physical health and feel comfortable walking on uneven terrain on hiking trails.

One, 2-hour class. Saturday, May 18, 2024. 11:00 am – 1:00 pm.
RAIN DATE: Sunday, May 19.
Cost: $45. Class limit: 20

Location: Salisbury Ghost Trail. Bartlett Street Trailhead:

  1. From I-95 South head East on Route 110 (Elm Street).
  2. Turn left at the Dairy Queen onto Bartlett Street.
  3. Pull off Bartlett Street at the trail crossing parking area.
  4. Look for Essex Forays Sign.

  • Those are just a few of the nearly 200 exciting classes offered by NACE each year.
  • Browse our catalog and try something new!
  • Anyone from the Greater Newburyport community is welcome to participate as a student or to become a teacher!
  • Most classes are also available to teens 15 years and over.
  1. There are no refunds given unless a class is canceled.
  2. There are no refunds given on the day class begins.
  3. There are no refunds given after a class begins.
  4. There are no refunds given if a student withdraws within three (3) days prior to class start date.
  5. In order to receive a refund or class voucher, students must give notice of withdrawal at least 4 days prior to class start date. Vouchers may be used anytime for any class and have no expiration date.
  • If, for any reason, the Newburyport schools are closed or cancelled (ie. inclement weather)… Adult Ed classes will also be cancelled.
  • Check the Website, Facebook, Instagram, or call (978) 992-8060 for class cancellation updates.
  • If a class is canceled, a make-up day will be coordinated with the instructor and students.
  • We do not send registration confirmations. We only contact you if your class is cancelled or full.
  1. To participate you need only basic computer literacy. Primarily the skills required: download, email, word processing, and printing.
  2. You will need to download Zoom onto your computer HERE. And to test your system, Zoom offers a test site HERE.
  3. Here are some instructions on how-to join a meeting with special instructions for Mac and Windows computers.
