Bitcoin & Crypto 101: This class is for those who are curious about Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency but know little about it. In this introductory course, you will learn the basics about this currency including what it is, how it works, how to use it, how to store it safely, different types of “wallets” and custodial options, as well as the new Bitcoin retirement funds. You’ll leave with a general understanding of this relatively new and unique asset class. Sean was an early investor in Bitcoin and crypto and has been involved in the asset class for over eight years. He has utilized nearly every exchange, every popular wallet, and through his experience, he can answer any Bitcoin or crypto-related questions that you might have. Sean has been a physics teacher at Newburyport High School for over ten years.

Bitcoin & Crypto 201: By popular demand, we have added this additional “next level” course, for those who have taken “Bitcoin and Crypto 101” or already have some basic background knowledge of Bitcoin and the Bitcoin network. This course will dive deeper into Bitcoin, altcoins, custody solutions, security, ETF’s, exchanges, hot/cold wallets, as well as how to open accounts, buy assets, and transfer assets.

Session 101: One, 2-hour session: Thursday, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
May 1, 2025. Newburyport High School, 241 High Street, Room 127.
Cost: $50. Class Limit: 20.

Session 201: One, 2-hour session: Thursday, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
May 8, 2025. Newburyport High School, 241 High Street, Room 127.
Cost: $50. Class Limit: 20.

Both Sessions: Students can register for both 101 and 201 for $90.

  • Anyone from the Greater Newburyport community is welcome to participate as a student or to become a teacher!
  • Most classes are also available to teens 15 years and over.
  1. If a class is cancelled, a refund or voucher will be given.
  2. Refunds are not given on the day class begins or after a class begins.
  3. If notice of class withdrawal is made within three (3) days prior to the class start date, there is no refund.
  4. In order to receive a refund or class voucher, students must give notice of withdrawal at least 4 days prior to class start date. If you choose a voucher, it may be used anytime for any class and has no expiration date.
  • If, for any reason, the Newburyport schools are closed or cancelled (ie. inclement weather)… GNACE classes will also be cancelled.
  • Check the Website, Facebook, Instagram, or call (978) 992-8060 for class cancellation updates.
  • If a class is canceled, a make-up day will be coordinated with the instructor and students.
  • We do NOT send registration confirmations OR class reminder emails. We kindly ask that you mark your calendar. However, if you register online, the automatic email you receive from Stripe will serve as your registration confirmation.
  • We will contact you if your class is cancelled or sold out.
  1. Your instructor will email you the link within one week of class start date.
  2. To participate you need only basic computer skills and a strong internet connection.
  3. Here are some instructions on how-to join a meeting with special instructions for Mac and Windows computers.
  4. Please email us and someone will get back to you to discuss the details.
  5. Lastly, we have compiled some guidelines for STUDENTS & INSTRUCTORS.
