Newburyport Adult & Community Education

Field Trip To Cape Ann Museum

Class Description

Vicki Hendrickson

We continue our tradition of gallery tours with a visit to the Cape Ann Museum in Gloucester. The museum’s significant and sizable holdings reflect the importance and inspiration of Cape Ann as an art community, one of the oldest in the nation, including artists Fitz Henry Lane, Edward Hopper, Winslow Homer, Cecilia Beaux and Marsden Hartley, among others. Beginning in April, the museum will present a special exhibition focusing on sculptors of Cape Ann, In the Round: 20th Century Cape Ann Sculpture. Drawing on its own collection and from private collections in the region, the museum will feature the works of artists who gravitated toward Charles Grafly, one of this country’s premiere sculptors, including Walker Hancock, George Demetrios and Katharine Lane Weems. Read more.

Friday, May 3, 2024. Cost: $30. Limit: 20 attendees.
The group will meet at and leave from Vicki Hendrickson’s house,
157 Low Street, Newburyport, at 10:30 a.m., lunch at a favorite restaurant (Dutch treat), and head over to the Museum.
SUCH A FUN TRIP! Vicki can drive and invites others to carpool as well. Phone: 978-361-6008. *Prior to the trip, if possible, Vicki will send participants material on the exhibition.
