It’s taken us a little time to regroup and get an alternative learning program together; however, we’re making progress. We have some classes available now with more to come over the next few days. All classes and registrations will be online. Teachers will reach out to students instructing them about how to “get” into the class and providing the necessary links.
We will be using Zoom or Google Classroom / Meet/ Hangout (Google’s video communication platform ) to run our classes Online.
It’s worth learning in and of itself. You may well want to be familiar with this was of communicating for your own personal and professional use.
We’re shooting for a May 11th start date with classes running for a maximum six weeks. We’re currently recruiting faculty about this online opportunity. We will put concerted energy into getting them up to speed with virtual teaching.
And for virtual learners, we will also work with you until you’re comfortable using this new model.
I’ve kept this quote up from T.H. White’s The Once and Future King. Merlin is speaking to Wart, who later evolves into King Arthur. It feels so appropriate for all of us right now. Here’s what he says,
“The best thing for being sad,” replied Merlin, beginning to puff and blow, “is to learn something. That’s the only thing that never fails. You may grow old and trembling in your anatomies, you may lie awake at night listening to the disorder of your veins, you may miss your only love, you may see the world about you devastated by evil lunatics, or know your honour trampled in the sewers of baser minds. There is only one thing for it then — to learn. Learn why the world wags and what wags it. That is the only thing which the mind can never exhaust, never alienate, never be tortured by, never fear or distrust, and never dream of regretting. Learning is the only thing for you. Look what a lot of things there are to learn.”
We’re in the midst of very challenging times. And we have no real sense of our future, yet we can all still learn, discover, create, and imagine. Our goal is to inspire that.
Stay well, mask up, watch the spring unfold,
Vicki & Betsy.
