Class Description
Ghlee E. Woodworth
Local historian, author, and guide Ghlee E. Woodworth will take participants on a 90-minute walking tour of Newburyport’s historic Oak Hill cemetery, one of the first rural garden cemeteries in the United States. Part of the Clipper Heritage Trail, Oak Hill is the final resting place of abolitionists, sea captains, benefactors, artists and authors who made their lives in the community. Participants will discover the contributions these individuals have made to both Newburyport and U.S. history while walking among 200-year-old trees, some of the oldest and largest in the city. Wear good walking shoes for uneven ground and hills.
