Newburyport Adult & Community Education

Sustainable Gardening

Class Description

Molly Janicki

In this class we will compare and contrast traditional methods of landscape care to more sustainable approaches. With the looming threat of a climate crisis, our landscapes offer each of us an opportunity to make a positive impact on the planet. Perhaps you’ve heard of ideas such as No Mow May or Leave the Leaves? Over the course of four classes, we’ll examine design choices, native and non-native plants and after-care methods that provide habitat to our non-human neighbors while still looking beautiful and intentional. Students will have the opportunity to share and get feedback on their own gardening challenges.

  • Bring your pruners and your questions!
  • The class will include lectures, demonstrations, and photographs.
  • Molly Janicki is a Massachusetts Certified Horticulturist and professional gardener based in Newbury, MA. She offers classes, coaching and horticultural services that seek to teach people to create and care for landscapes that positively impact the planet.

Four, 2-hour sessions: Mondays, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Begins April 22, 2024. Nock Middle School.
Cost: $160. Class Limit: 15.
