Stand-Up Comedy

Class Description

Kathleen Isbell

Are you the funny one in your family? Would you like to polish your ability to tell a good story or learn how to use your own style in order to better land a punch line? If you’ve ever had thoughts of getting up on stage at an open mic night, or even if you would just like a chance to overcome your fear of presenting to an audience (a fear that exceeds the fear of death), then this class is for you! You’ll be given coaching direction and feedback, including how to structure your material for greatest impact, tricks of the trade for a more polished stage presence and delivery, all while identifying and developing your own personal style. We will be working with your own material. Please bring five to eight minutes of it with you to class or come with an idea you’d like to develop. This is a performance-oriented course where you will be standing up and performing in each class. The final class will be a performance for the public. If you like to have fun, enjoy laughing and making others laugh, then join in the fun! No experience necessary. Kathleen is an award-winning actor and director with decades of experience teaching theater and television. She studied with some of the best in Boston and New York City theater. This class is sure to stimulate your funny bone!

Six, 2-hour sessions: Wednesdays, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Begins February 7, 2024. Nock Middle School.
Cost: $250. Class limit: 10.
