Knitting Basics

Class Description

Jenny Putnam will teach this class for beginning knitters. If you’ve always wanted to learn to knit or have forgotten the basics, this class will start you on your way. You’ll learn how to cast on, knit, purl, increase and decrease, bind off and read a simple pattern. We’ll also discuss gauge, different yarns and needles, and start a seed stitch scarf, which you will be able to finish on your own. I’ve been knitting for over 30 years—I used to watch my grandmother knit when I was a little girl and the process fascinated me! I love working with my hands and find knitting calming and centering. I’m always happy to share my knowledge with others. You should bring a skein of worsted weight yarn and a pair of size 7 or 8 needles (purchase at Michaels, JoAnns or online).

Four, 2-hour classes: Tuesdays, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Begins March 3, 2020. Nock Middle School.
Cost: $135. Class limit: 10
