Immerse Yourself in Romany Dancing

Class Description

Janet Catherine Johnston

The exuberant style of Romany dance, or “Gypsy style” folk dance, conjures images of women in brightly-colored costumes dancing joyfully to lively music. Now you can join the fun, get some great exercise, and learn more about Romany dance in this unique class! Participants will learn both classic and new Gypsy-style steps to the accompaniment of traditional Middle Eastern music, explore the elements of stage presence, and get tips on assembling a costume. Instructor Janet C. Johnson has performed in the US and abroad, won awards for her flamboyant costumes, and studied Romany dancing on visits to Hungary, Spain, Romania, and Egypt.
