French: Beginning

Parlez Francais! This class is for beginners who have very little to no exposure and dream of speaking French, but may be hesitant to learn a new language. French doesn’t have to be intimidating or complicated. This is an introductory course that will cover French language skills as well as culture. Students will learn the alphabet and how to read and write simple sentences in French. You will also learn by developing all four communication skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking, as well as how to respond to greetings and simple commands. In addition to learning this beautiful language, you will gain an understanding and respect for French culture. Instructor Sophie Petit is a native of Nice, France.

Eight, 2-hour sessions: Tuesdays, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Begins January 23, 2024. Nock Middle School.
Cost: $260. Class Limit: 10.

  • Most classes are also available to teens 15 years and over.
  1. There are NO REFUNDS given unless a class is canceled.
  2. There are NO REFUNDS given on the day class begins.
  3. There are NO REFUNDS given after a class begins.
  4. There are NO REFUNDS given if a student withdraws within three (3) days prior to class start date.
  5. In order to receive a refund or class voucher, students must give notice of withdrawal at least 4 days prior to class start date. Vouchers may be used anytime for any class and have no expiration date.

  • If, for any reason, the Newburyport schools are closed or cancelled (ie. inclement weather)… Adult Ed classes will also be cancelled.

  • In the case of a class cancellation, you may choose a credit voucher which can be used for any class at any time, or a refund.
  • We do not send registration confirmations. We only contact you if your class is cancelled or full.
