Watercolor Painting for Beginners

Donna Callahan

Donna Callahan, longtime watercolorist and teacher, is offering this beginners class to those who have always wanted to learn the joy of watercolor painting. Students will learn how to use brushes and paints, how to mix colors and how to apply paint to paper. We will splash some paint around, see how colors work, and have some fun. At the end of the 6-week session you will have completed your own small paintings, and you’ll have confidence in using paint, color and brushes. Materials and supplies will be available in class for use.

Six, 2-hour sessions: Tuesdays, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Begins April 23, 2024. Nock Middle School.
Cost: $240*. Class Limit: 10.

  • Anyone from the Greater Newburyport community is welcome to participate as a student or to become a teacher!
  • Most classes are also available to teens 15 years and over.
  1. There are no refunds given unless a class is canceled.
  2. There are no refunds given on the day class begins.
  3. There are no refunds given after a class begins.
  4. There are no refunds given if a student withdraws within three (3) days prior to class start date.
  5. In order to receive a refund or class voucher, students must give notice of withdrawal at least 4 days prior to class start date. Vouchers may be used anytime for any class and have no expiration date.
  • If, for any reason, the Newburyport schools are closed or cancelled (ie. inclement weather)… Adult Ed classes will also be cancelled.
  • Check the Website, Facebook, Instagram, or call (978) 992-8060 for class cancellation updates.
  • If a class is canceled, a make-up day will be coordinated with the instructor and students.
  • We do not send registration confirmations. We only contact you if your class is cancelled or full.
  1. To participate you need only basic computer literacy. Primarily the skills required: download, email, word processing, and printing.
  2. You will need to download Zoom onto your computer HERE. And to test your system, Zoom offers a test site HERE.
  3. Here are some instructions on how-to join a meeting with special instructions for Mac and Windows computers.
