If you’ve ever contemplated becoming a beekeeper, or have tried beekeeping but had difficulties keeping them alive and thriving, this course is for you! Designed specifically for students with little or no previous experience, accomplished local beekeeper Alison Galati will cover the basics of successful beekeeping techniques in this class. You’ll learn about honey bee behavior and biology, the beekeeping calendar, equipment considerations, protective gear, how to order your bees, the installation process, hive inspections…and so much more. This class will teach effective strategies and skills for keeping your bees healthy and thriving all year long. Alison began keeping bees 14 years ago when the news of colony collapse hit the news and she wanted to help. She began with a single hive and was hooked. For the last 8 years, she’s mentored, coached and taught beekeeping, and teaches her refined techniques to help keep hives healthy and thriving. She loves helping “new-bees” get off to a good start by learning this rewarding craft.
