Elizabeth Barrett

Elizabeth Barrett, a published writer, has more than thirty years of experience working in publishing. As a freelance editor, she has clients who write a variety of fiction and nonfiction, such as mysteries, women’s fiction, and memoirs.

MargotBirkeMargot G. Birke, Esq

Margot founded Elder Law Solutions to focus on the intricate legal and financial needs of older and disabled adults. She has extensive experience in Elder Law as an advocate, mediator, and volunteer. She speaks frequently at assisted living centers, geriatric centers, and councils on aging to empower the elder community by providing the information they need to make informed choices.

George Dix

After a long career teaching Romance languages and literatures at both the college and secondary levels George Dix is in his fourth year as an instructor in the NACE program where he has given classes in Spanish, Italian, and French. George, known to adult students as “Jorge” or “Giorgio” or “Georges”, received his B.A. in French from Brown University and two M.A.’s, one in French and one in Spanish, from Middlebury College. His doctoral studies at Indiana University and Middlebury College brought him A.B.D. status. George taught at Indiana University, Lycoming College, and Earlham College before joining the faculty at Phillips Academy Andover where he taught, coached and administered before retiring to Newbury in 2010. Over the years he has resided in Spain, France and Québec and has traveled extensively in Europe and Latin America. With background experience in acting, George brings a direct, theatrical approach into his teaching of languages.

Valerie IsaacsValerie Isaacs

Valerie Isaacs, a professional painter with 25 years’ experience, started in the field of architecture. Her art training was with painters, sculptors, and etchers in Philadelphia, Charleston SC, and in Seville,Spain.  Before moving to Plum Island in 2012, she taught figure drawing, perspective, and painting at the Cambridge Center for Adult Ed.

EuniceDJamesEunice D. James, National Strength and Conditioning Certified Personal Trainer

Recognized as one of the top strength and conditioning trainers in Massachusetts, Eunice James has been featured in magazines such as Muscle and Fitness and Strength Magazine for Women. She’s won Best in Class and Overall in the Massachusetts State Body Building Competition and has appeared as a guest poser in Body Building promotions. Since 1992, Eunice has combined her up-to-date knowledge, personal experience and understanding to assist her clients in achieving fitness results and optimal health. She has been a Certified Personal Trainer for corporate, small groups, Women’s Crisis Center and private clients. She administers fitness assessments and personalized fitness programs for clients.

Janet-JohnstonJanet Johnston

Janet Catherine Johnston is a singer, dancer, choreographer, master costume designer, fashion consultant, private pilot, martial artist, fortune teller, astrophysicist, seismologist and science fiction author.
She has been teaching dance for over ten years.

Len-MayLen May

Len May is a graduate of MIT’s Sloan School of Management. He transitioned to a career in long term care planning and insurance from high tech management positions after his parents’ experiences with needing years of care drove home the importance of early planning. Len earned the Certified in Long Term Care designation and shares his expertise by conducting seminars for consumers. He also partners with financial planners, estate planning attorneys, and CPAs to help them educate their clients on the importance of long term care planning. Andy Morris established A Better Life, LLC in May, 2011. A Better Life, LLC specializes in utilizing hypnosis, EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) and Reiki to help you to realize your potential. Marie O’Malley has been in the fitness/wellness business for 33+ years. As a graduate of the University of Massachusetts she began her career as a manager with Gloria Stevens and eventually owned four franchises. She studied exercise science with Dr Rose Marie Knickles, nutrition with Noreen Waters RD and behavior modification with Dr. Peter Wish. As the owner of four fitness centers, Marie was responsible for developing exercise and weight management programs and staff training. Marie also developed programs for those who want to exercise at home with her “Get Fit at Home” series of seminars. Marie is currently a nutraMtrix Consultant, implementing nutraMetrix Customized Wellness Solutions into Health Care and Wellness facilities and practices She is also a certified coach with the TLS Healthy Weight Management Program.

CarolynRoy-BornsteinCarolyn Roy-Bornstein

Carolyn Roy-Bornstein is the author of Crash: A Mother, a Son, and the Journey from Grief to Gratitude. Her non-fiction has appeared in the Boston Globe, The Writer magazine, JAMA, JAMA Pediatrics, the American Medical Writers Association Journal, and several Chicken Soup for the Soul anthologies. Her fiction has appeared in The Charles River Review, The Examined Life and Hospital Drive and won third place in the 2005 Writer’s Digest Short Story Competition.

Susan Swan has recently moved to Newburyport from Cambridge. She has recently retired after teaching for 40 years in the field of Humanities.

JackTremblayJack Tremblay

Jack Tremblay has been practicing landscape architecture for 30 years. His work comprises residential, commercial, and restoration design over a wide range of project size and complexity. Jack has designed landscapes in partnership with Roger Hopkins, Tom Wirth, and Roger Cook, all of whom have been featured on PBS’s This Old House. Jack’s work includes master site planning, grading studies, construction detailing, materials and plant specification, and graphic illustration. His work has appeared in design, how-to, and tourism publications. Jack has a B.S. degree in environmental design from University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and he is a registered landscape architect.
